A convenient route to qualification for busy professionals with flexible times and venues to suit the candidate. A candidate can commence a NVQ at a time during the calendar year that is most suitable for him/her. Assessment based on performance at work. This qualification is offered through Pearson Edexcel as the awarding body.
The successful completion of the Level 3 NVQ qualification in Occupational Work Supervision (Construction) enables candidates to take the Supervisor Health and Safety test and, if successful, qualify for a Gold CSCS or CSR Card. The Level 3 NVQ is also a requirement for the CSR Supervisory Gold Card going forward from 2024.
The qualification is designed for construction operatives already competent in a specific occupational area, who have responsibility for supervising other operatives in that occupational area.
Competence is assessed by ongoing assessments against the NVQ standards relating to specific areas of supervision. Candidates must prove competence in 8 units.
Candidates will be allocated an assessor who acts as mentor and guide throughout the programme. The programme will include an induction which relates to the overall course and provides guidance on how the NVQ is formulated and presented. In addition, candidates will attend for briefing and assessment for each of the units either on site, at an agreed location or virtually.
It is normal for candidates to complete the programme in approximately 3 - 12 months, although it is possible to do so in a shorter period.
A grant of £750 may be payable from the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB NI) to registered employers on successful completion.
