What are the benefits of NVQs?

A convenient route to qualification for busy professionals. The NVQs can be delivered at a time and location to suit the candidate and/or through virtual media. This qualification is offered through Pearson Edexcel as the awarding body. A candidate can commence a NVQ at a time during the calendar year that is most suitable for him/her. Assessment is based on performance at work.

Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Contracting Management Operations

Candidates would also be eligible to apply for Chartered Membership of the CIOB by way of the professional review.

Eligibility

This NVQ Level 6 Diploma is designed for managers who can prove competence in the areas listed below.

Assessment

Competence is assessed through ongoing assessment against NVQ standards relating to specific areas of management which include:

• Maintain Health, Safety and Welfare Systems in Construction Contracting Operations Management
• Plan, Allocate and Monitor Work in Own Area of Responsibility Environmental and sustainability
• Chair Meetings and Take Decisions in Construction Contracting Operations Management Teams and individuals
• Develop and Maintain Working Relationships and Personal Development in Construction Contracting Operations Management Communication

Candidates must prove competence in the 4 mandatory units above, plus 3 or 4 units from a choice of 14 optional units.

Provision of assessment

Candidates will be allocated an assessor who acts as mentor and guide throughout the programme. The programme will include an induction which relates to the overall course and provides guidance on how the NVQ is formulated and presented. In addition, candidates will attend for briefing and assessment for each of the units within their workplace or alternative venue.

Duration

It is normal for candidates to complete the programme between 3 - 12 months, although it is possible to do so through in a shorter period.

Grant

A grant of £1,000 may be payable from CITB NI to registered employers on successful completion.
